Frequently Asked Questions
-
Counselling is a safe, confidential space where you talk openly with a trained professional about what's troubling you. Together, we work through your thoughts and feelings to gain clarity, cope better, and move forward.
-
Yes, confidentiality is one of the core pillars of counselling and everything we discuss in the space will stay there. There are some exceptions - related to crime, or harm to self or others - which I will inform you about during our first session.
-
Don't worry — you're in the right place. I have plenty of experience working with clients trying counselling for the first time. In our first session, we'll start getting to know each other and gently explore what's brought you here; I may also ask some background questions to understand your context. I'm always happy to answer any questions about my approach or counselling in general, to help you feel safe and heard.
-
Each session is £60.
-
I understand things come up. Please give at least 48 hours' notice where possible, as late cancellations may still be charged.
-
If you are not feeling heard, or having the experience you’d like from counselling, bringing this up in our sessions can usually be helpful. We can then explore together what might not be working, what we could do to improve our therapeutic relationship or to help you get what you need from counselling.
-
As a counsellor, I cannot give you advice, coaching or tell you what to do. However, I can hold space for you, as you process emotions and life events and provide a warm and safe space for you.

This isn't an emergency service. If you're in immediate danger, please call 999 or go to A&E. For urgent mental health support, call 111 and select the mental health option, or contact Samaritans on 116 123.
